Valarie Hunsinger

Ms. Hunsinger joined Hyde Leadership Charter School as Library Media Specialist in 2009. Over the past nine years, Ms. Hunsinger built a school library, expanded literacy, and technology opportunities for students, coached the Hyde Debate Team, led the NYC Junior Ambassador Program, and founded the Hyde Tech Team. In 2017, Ms. Hunsinger transitioned to become the school’s Director of Development and Marketing.

Ms. Hunsinger serves as an advisor to the Bisila Bokoko African Literacy Project. She is a member of AASL and a member of the ALA International Relations Committee—Africa Subcommittee. She has written for  School Library Monthly, Knowledge Quest, and International Leads. She is also an executive committee member for the Day of Knowledge Conference in the Dominican Republic. Ms. Hunsinger has a BA in International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College. She was a recipient of the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program Scholarship and in 2013 she received her MA in Education and School Library and Information Technology from Mansfield University.
