The Hyde Catalyst Saturday Program launched in December 2009. Middle School and High School students attend the program on a volunteer basis but must be willing to commit to regular attendance.
The Hyde Catalyst Saturday Program focuses on the enhancement of personal, academic, and leadership skills. The program aims to equip students with additional resources to help advance their character as well as strengthen their awareness of the role they play in their own education. Students are challenged to become independent learners, develop leadership skills, and become critical thinkers through obtaining a global perspective.
The academic areas of study focus on ELA, math, social studies, and science test preparation as well as media literacy and real world math applications. Students also engage in lessons from “Get Smart, Get Healthy!,” a holistic health education initiative that uses Urban Tech's Youth Leadership Academy curriculum to build healthy minds in New York City public schools students. In the afternoon, eligible students may attend field trips organized in conjunction with the Hyde Catalyst Saturday Program curriculum.
